Books To Read By The End Of The Year | AutumnTBR

I have just finished reading The Possessed by Elif Batuman, a book I thought would be a bit more about Russian literature, but was really just her autobiography about her own journey studying Russian literature. I didn't enjoy it that much, but alongside that I have been reading Notes from Underground by Dostoyevsky, because I haven't read any Dostoyevsky in the past two months and I'm still pretty committed to reading everything he's written at some point over the next two years of my life.

Nothing is really captivating me at the moment so I just wanted to make a list of things i'd like to read by the end of the year. I also want to try and read a lot more novels because I have been reading so much non-fiction lately, and I want to read some good fiction to inspire my own writing.

Things I want to read:

A Horse Walks Into a Bar by David Grossman

I borrowed this as an book from my local library in July, but I never finished it. So I want to re-borrow it and finish it.

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

I borrowed this from a friend, I have it on my shelf but have just not gotten around to reading it. I really want to be able to give it back to my friend as well just so I can free up room on my bookshelf.

Crusade and Jihad by Malcolm Lambert

Ok I know this is non-fiction, but I would love to learn a lot more about the crusades and the history of jihad and this book was pretty well received.

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

This year I have re-read a lot of books which is something I haven't done in a while. This is one of my favourite books and since i've gotten into a habit of re-reading I would love to re-read this. I also think this will inspire my own writing as it's so well written, I want to study it and examine the finer details of Hosseini's writing style as I think there's a lot to learn from his superb writing.

This is all I can muster up for now but i'm still really on the look out for a really good fiction read.
