V is for Vlogbrothers
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This post isn't so much for this book but rather for the Vlogbrothers. The Fault in Our Stars is an excellent book written by John Green of the Vlogbrothers, and the book's opening lines is one of my favourite openings of any book:
'Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed, presumably because I rarely left the house, spent quite a lot of time in bed, read the same book over and over, ate infrequently, and devoted quite bit of my abundant free time to thinking about death.'
John Green's books are the only YA novels I have read and I think he is a really excellent writer, which brings me to my plug for the vlogbrothers and their youtube channel. My favourite feature on their channel is 'thoughts from places' and John and Hank's thought's from places videos are thought provoking short essays on their thoughts whilst travelling. John's particularly reflect his excellent writing style and I will post a link to one of my favourites. I find his musings on the idea of home particularly beautiful and I love the quote from All The King's Men.
