A is for At Last

The Spider King's Daughter by Chibundu Onuzo

April is without a doubt my favourite month of the year. After the anticipation that comes with a long winter we now have longer days and a lot more sunshine, and there's such a sense of relief and joy after a lot of waiting.

That's why I'm kicking off my book alphabet with A for At Last and the book i've chosen is The Spider King's Daughter by Chibundu Onuzo. This book is highly anticipated for me. Last year I went to an event for the magazine Magnify where Chibundu Onuzo spoke about writing and gave lots of advice and tips for people like myself. I found her witty and inspirational and knew I wanted to read her book. Since then she has now released a second book (Welcome to Lagos) which is also on my TBR pile, but for now i'm reading this one. According to Goodreads i'm 35% of the way through. It's set in Lagos, Nigeria and follows the life of an affluent teenager and her new pauper acquaintance, a street hawker. So far i'm loving it and recommend it if you enjoy books set in Africa as it's a lovely insight into contemporary Nigerian society.
